Jr. Jazz Band currently runs two days a week, outside the timetable for the full year. This is where students learn instrumental Jazz through the performance of ‘Big Band’ arrangements of a variety of jazz styles including swing, funk, Latin, rock and ballads. Students are encouraged to listen to recordings, copy the great players and ultimately develop their reading and improvising ‘chops’ on their instrument. Some high‐energy music will be heard during this class!
Participation in festival/community performances is required at times throughout the year.
